MAKE an Impact.

Introduction.

All my life I wanted to be an artist when I grew up. Here I am, grown, and being an artist doesn't really look anything like I thought it would when I was a kid.

I went to college for creative writing because pursuing an art degree was so all-consuming and seemingly impractical. To write, all I needed was a paper and pen, sometimes a computer with a word processor. I had amazing opportunities in school to add visual elements to my writing, and I never lost the need to make art.

I married, had some kids, and the time it took to paint or draw or really play in the realm of visual creation was short. I relished it when it happened. I felt whole when I was painting, drawing, even photographing my family.  So I made it happen more often as my children grew.

In 2018, I began my martial arts journey at Karate America. The training I'm receiving there has impacted every part of my life. I have been finding great joy and satisfaction in merging two of my passions, martial arts and arts and crafts. My intention is to celebrate what martial arts has done for me and others who pursue this kind of training, and also bring out some of the lessons of self-discipline, personal growth and physical well being to appeal to the wider world.
Courage is not found in the absence of fear.
To be brave means to choose to step into fear on purpose in order to experience the reward on the other side.
Art is personal.
Art is vulnerable.
Art is universal.
