I finally finished recording and editing my first episode! And I did it by the arbitrary deadline I set for myself! Hooray!
Thank God I never have to do another first episode. It was a challenge, and I definitely learned a lot about how my voice sounds recorded (not at all like it sounds in my head, sigh), how to edit files with the free software I'm using (thanks Anchor.fm), and how to make the whole process a little more easy on myself going forward. Here are some notes from the show in which I quote both The Bible and Dune, read a poem of mine that I wrote a long time ago. I get vulnerable with my own internal monologues around fear, tell a few tales from the mat and from life and just show up messy to talk about this concept that has made an impact for me and my family. Some of the references from the show: Don't Keep Your Day Job Podcast: www.dontkeepyourdayjob.com/podcast Book: https://www.dontkeepyourdayjob.com/book Bible Verses:Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. From Dune: "I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain." -Frank Herbert Courage Challenge: Tell someone they're awesome. Be specific. Say it to their face in the moment. You can do it, I believe in you! And I would love it if you let me know how it went!
